Honey-Garlic Chicken Stir-Fry with Broccoli
Some nights call for dinner on the table fast. This skillet stir-fry gets tender chicken thighs and bright broccoli tossed in a sweet, savory sauce made with our raw honey, which turns sticky and glossy in the pan. Serve it over rice for two, and make a little extra so you have leftovers for fried rice tomorrow.
Serves: 2, with leftovers | Prep: 10 min | Cook: 25 min | Total: about 35 min
Ingredients
Chicken and broccoli
- 1 to 1.5 lb chicken thighs, cut bite-size (boneless is easiest)
- 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
- 1 to 2 tbsp avocado oil
- Salt and pepper
Honey-garlic sauce
- 2 to 3 tbsp Freedom Meadow Acres raw honey
- 2 to 3 tbsp soy sauce or coconut aminos
- 3 garlic cloves, minced (or 1/2 to 3/4 tsp garlic powder)
- Optional: a pinch of ground ginger or red pepper flakes
For serving
- 1.5 to 2 cups dry white rice
Instructions
- Cook the rice. Cook the rice according to the package. Any extra makes great next-day fried rice.
- Season the chicken. Pat the chicken dry and season it with salt, pepper, and a little of the garlic.
- Make the sauce. Whisk together the honey, soy sauce, the rest of the garlic, and any ginger or chili flakes.
- Brown the chicken. Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Brown the chicken in a single layer for 6 to 8 minutes until cooked through, then set it aside.
- Cook the broccoli. In the same pan, stir-fry the broccoli for 3 to 4 minutes with a splash of water until it's bright green and tender.
- Glaze. Return the chicken to the pan, pour in the sauce, and toss for 1 to 2 minutes until glossy and sticky.
- Serve. Spoon the chicken and broccoli over the rice.
Leftover tip: next-day fried rice
Fry the cold rice with the leftover chicken and broccoli, two scrambled eggs, and a splash of soy sauce for an easy second dinner.
Why raw honey works here
Raw honey makes the sauce sticky and glossy without any cornstarch. Keep the heat moderate once it goes in so it caramelizes instead of burning.
Our raw, unfiltered honey comes from our family farm in Windham, Ohio, packed only in glass. Grab a jar for your next stir-fry night. 🐝
