About Us
Welcome to Freedom Meadow Acres
We're glad you're here! We're a small family farm in Windham, Ohio, and our aim is simple: to bring you delicious, natural food you'll be proud to share with your family and friends.
How it started
What began as a dream during the 2021 shutdowns is becoming a reality. We purchased just over 15 acres with one goal in mind: to grow real food for ourselves and for our community. Every season, that dream grows a little more.
Our honey
Honey is at the heart of what we do. Our raw honey is unfiltered and simply strained through stainless mesh screens to remove fine particles, so it stays as close as possible to the way the bees made it.
Healthy bees make great honey. We treat our hives only with Formic Pro, oxalic acid, and VarroxSan. All three are natural treatments used in organic beekeeping to control Varroa mites, one of the biggest threats to honeybees today. They don't alter the honey or wax and leave no residue behind.
We currently care for 10 to 20 hives, and we're working toward 50.
Infused honeys
We also make infused honeys using real fruit, spices, and vanilla beans, never liquid flavoring. We warm the honey gently during infusion, but never to pasteurization temperatures. You may find small pieces of fruit or seeds in your jar. That's normal, perfectly edible, and a sign it's the real thing.
Glass jars only
Every jar of our honey is packed in glass. No exceptions. Glass doesn't absorb flavors or odors, it doesn't leach anything into your food, and it keeps honey tasting the way it should for years. It's also endlessly reusable and recyclable. We'd rather spend a little more on packaging than store good, natural food in plastic.
Bring your jars back! Return your clean, undamaged Freedom Meadow Acres jars (our jars only, please) when you pick up your next order or visit us at a farmers market, and we'll take $1.00 off your purchase for each jar.
More from the farm
Honey is just the beginning. We're growing more than 150 fruit trees, along with blueberries, kiwi, rhubarb, vegetables, herbs, and much more. As the farm grows, so will what we can offer you.
Natural, local, and small-business sourced
Our goal is to bring you food as close to natural as possible. We use organic or naturally derived products whenever we can, and over time we aim to source 100% of our products from our own farm or from other small businesses.
